When I stepped into the hotel ballroom for the Hall of Famer media availability for the 2008 MLB All Star Game in NYC, I thought I was in baseball heaven. In one corner was Hank Aaron, in another Willie McCovey, in the back row Robin Roberts, Bob Feller, off to the right Rollie Fingers and Harmon Killebrew. Of course, there were also two legends I grew up watching Wade Boggs and Tony Gwynn.
This was the greatest assembly of baseball talent I’d ever seen in one place at one time.
As a interviewer, there were so many questions, but not enough time. Hank Aaron was mobbed so I moved over to a smaller man who I had remembered from viewing the 1950 World Series video when I was younger…Here is my magical journey through that room.
