WKXL JAN 5TH

Tom Brady suffered a painful sprained right ankle in Sunday’s game, during the Pats’ 20-10 loss to the Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium, but he will play Jan. 16 in the playoff opener at Gillette Stadium. Brady went down in the second quarter when right tackle Marcus Cannon grabbed Ndamukong Suh’s facemask and forced the defensive lineman to tumble awkwardly into the quarterback’s right leg.
Brady didn’t miss a play until the Patriots plugged in Jimmy Garoppolo for the final four snaps with a 10-point deficit. It was obvious after the game, that Brady, was in pain after.
An MRI yesterday, showed he had a sprained ankle. Tom Brady played with a sprained ankle in Super Bowl XXXVI against the Rams and a high ankle sprain in Super Bowl XLII against the Giants, among a battery of injuries he has dealt with during his career. It’s a really good week for him to rest.
The Patriots know they’ll have Brady for the playoffs. He’ll just be multitasking from the training room until that point.

Now, it’s time to wait…. the Pats know they will play on January 16th at Gillette Stadium, but the only questions left is who will they play?
Bengals, Texans, or Chiefs?

The Miami Dolphins have requested permission to speak with New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia for their head-coaching vacancy. This would be the first time Patricia has interviewed for a head-coaching position. It reflects his rise in the NFL.
Bill [Belichick] does an amazing job in bringing in young coaches and teaching them how he wants them to coach the game. It’s actually part of the [philosophy]; Bill is much more about growing talent internally and clearly Matt and Josh are that…
“When people come and ask to interview them, I think it’s a compliment to the organization, not that we want to lose anybody.”
