A historic New Hampshire house once owned by impressionist painter Edmund Tarbell was destroyed by a fire over the weekend. New Castle residents said flames broke out at the Portsmouth Avenue home at around 9 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters battled the blaze overnight. The more than century-old house was purchased by Tarbell in 1905 as a summer home.
