NH Now: When the Boss Calls, the E Street Band Gets Together!

E Street Band guitarist, Nils Lofgren joined Chris Ryan to talk about Bruce Springsteen getting the band back together. The tour which is called “The River” hits Boston Thursday night. Lofgren has been with the E Street Band for 34 years since 1984. “The River” was a double album released in 1980. In it, Bruce Springsteen explored more adult themes which marked a turning point in his song writing. Lofgren had to put his own career briefly on hold when he received word that the E Street Band was reassembling for this tour. Nils apologized for having to reschedule some performances in New Hampshire. However, he really enjoys performing with this legendary band.

“The River” takes two hours to perform. In addition, other songs are added to the concert and there will be encores. Lofgren enjoys everything about these concerts. He gets to play a variety of instruments, he has the freedom to do lots of improvising, and he enjoys playing with such talented bandmates. Despite his long time in the business, Lofgren still enjoys the excitement of reacting to the crows who attend a Springsteen Concert. He tries to grow and learn after evaluating each performance.

Nils Lofgren discussed how he also performs with his own band. In addition, Lofgren also plays with Neil Young’s band and the Ringo Starr Tour. Nils Lofgren also uses his website to promote his music. It can be reached at http://www.nilslofgren.com/
