I was once called \u201cMagellan\u2019s sister.\u201d It was not a compliment, it was said very sarcastically, but delivered good-naturedly from a good friend, so I took it in stride. Also, it was not entirely unwarranted.<\/p>\n
I am not one who has a natural sense of direction, and unless I am driving, I am perfectly content to just sit back and enjoy the ride. On those occasions when someone else is driving to our destination, it would be a challenge for me to replicate even the simplest of routes taken. I am far too busy daydreaming and looking at the scenery\u2026\u2026because I can.<\/p>\n
When circumstances dictate that I drive, and need to navigate to a new place, I can do very well with the aid of good directions, or a handy GPS device. After the trip is completed, I feel a sense of accomplishment, and another route to add to my small arsenal of places I know.<\/p>\n
Working with Chris on NH Now, it\u2019s easy for me to be the co-pilot, er\u2026co-host. Chris maps out the show direction, leads through twists and turns, and hits the \u201cbreaks.\u201d I am sometimes content to lean back in my seat, look through the window, and comment on the landscape\u2026..because I can. That is, until suddenly I find myself in the driver\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n
Chris is returning to Miami to capture exciting highlights as Matt Bonner and the Spurs continue in the finals. I will remain here in Concord at WKXL, along with Janice, to navigate through \u201cNH Now.\u201d I am excited\u2026.and car-sick. Yeah, I admit I\u2019m a bit nervous, but the opportunity to take the lead and work through some of the logistics Chris usually worries about is also a bit empowering. My senses are heightened, and I won\u2019t sleep well for the next couple of days, but the confidence I anticipate at getting through it on my own (hopefully with a minimum of detours) gives me a pretty good adrenaline rush too.
