Charlie Bass on NH Now

Rep Charlie Bass talked about the fiscal cliff on New Hampshire Now and his co-sponsoring of the repeal of the defense of marriage act.

Bass told Chris Ryan it is time for Republicans to be on the right side of history in regards to gay rights.

“I just wanted as a tiny bit of legacy to leave the Congress saying to my constituents that this is the direction our society is headed,” said Bass.

“We best be willing to understand as Republicans that in our party we fundamentally believe in individual liberty and independence.”

Democrat Annie Kuster takes office on January 3rd, replacing Bass who has served 14 years in Congress beginning in 1994. He was re-elected in 2010 after being defeated by Paul Hodes in 2006.
