The Jeb Bush 2016 election team is hoping that a three day bus tour through New Hampshire can “fix” the downward direction of their campaign. The tour has been labeled as “The Jeb Can Fix It Tour.” Coming off what has been described as a poor performance on the last Republican Candidate Debate on CNBC, it is hoped that he can move the needle by doing some retail politicking in the Granite State. Chris Ryan described how Governor Bush does very well in the town hall format. He seems well versed on the issues and comfortable with having a give and take with the voters. Chris then asked the former governor of Florida why that doesn’t translate to the TV debate stage. Bush remarked, “It’s not a debate. It’s a performance, and I’ve got to get better at performing.” The governor said that he wasn’t complaining about the series of inappropriate or gotcha type questions which were used at the last debate. Recently, the campaign staffs of the Republican candidates met and called for format changes for future debates. When he was asked about this development, Governor Bush stated that he only wants the debate moderators to follow the stated rules of the debate. The last debate on CNBC was supposed to focus on the economy. Bush pointed out that very few of the questions were about pocketbook issues affecting the voters. As an example, Bush discussed the question about fantasy football that he was given. “The path of the twenty-first century for our country will not be determined by whether fantasy football is regulated or not.”
In conclusion, Jeb Bush feels that voters who are frustrated by a stagnant economy will turn away from the programs offered by Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders as being more of the same policies of Barack Obama. Bush believes that we need to reverse course by growing the economy and that he can “fix” many of the problems caused by Washington.
