SF Giants GM Brian Sabean on NH Now

World Series champion San Francisco Giants GM and Concord native Brian Sabean joined Chris Ryan on New Hampshire Now to talk about his club winning the World Series twice in the last three years.

“The most amazing thing is the two-times in three-years,” said Sabean. “It hasn’t been done since the ‘Big Red Machine’ so, at least in our minds, for this short period of time, we’ve reached baseball’s Camelot.”

Sabean is the longest tenured GM in baseball (’97) and played baseball and football for Concord High.

hotseat-NaftaliChris Ryan and Dean Spiliotes are joined at Southern New Hampshire University by national security expert Dr. Tim Naftali.

The three discussed the current nuclear threat, the administration’s handling of the attack on the embassy in Benghazi and Dr. Naftali’s book in the works about JFK.

“Kennedy is a figure who deserves and will get much more analysis,” said Dr. Naftali. “He may not have been a great President, but he was fascinating and much more thoughtful than many of his predecessors and his successors too.”

Naftali served as the first Director of the federal Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum from 2006 to 2011 and is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the New America Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit, non-partisan public policy institute that invests in new thinkers and ideas to address the next generation of challenges facing the U.S.

Boston Pops Maestro Keith Lockhart on NH Now

The Pops Holiday concert is Saturday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Conductor Keith Lockhart joined Chris Ryan for a in-depth interview and look at the Boston Pops from song selection to composition structure to the the current state of classical music.

“Standing in-front of an orchestra whom you work with to make sure you’re all functioning as a unit is one of the greatest thrills imaginable,” said Lockhart.

Saturday’s concert is slated to begin at 7pm and includes a sing-along and a visit from Santa.

Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas talks school overcrowding, downshifting and 2014. On down-shifting, “We were having a good conversation until you had to bring that up.” Manchester was hit with $4 million dollars of downshifted costs from the state.

Citizens Bank in Concord’s McKee Square Robbed

(Concord, NH) — Police in Concord are looking for the young man they say held up a bank Tuesday morning. The robbery happened at the Citizens Bank on South Street, when police say a suspect walked in and gave a note to a teller, demanding cash. Once he had the money he ran out, heading west towards Avon Street. It’s believed he left the area in a blue, 90’s model four-door Honda Civic. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Concord Police.
