Canterbury police chief resigns

Canterbury police Chief John LaRoche resigned from his position with the town Monday as he prepares to defend himself against sexual assault charges in court.
Canterbury Town Administrator Ken Folsom said selectmen voted to accept his resignation, effective immediately. The vote was taken during the public portion of a selectmen’s meeting Monday.
Reached by phone at home on Tuesday, LaRoche told the Concord Moniter he was approached by the selectmen to resign last week.
