City of Concord – Recreational Partnerships

Yes it is as fun as it sounds!

The latest partnership featured the Black Ice Pond Hockey Association, the Concord Rotary Club, Brian’s One to One Fitness, Concord Crew and the City of Concord; all working together to create the 1st Annual Weekend on the Water.

Over a twelve month planning process, each of the organizations agreed to manage a different aspect of the weekend while agreeing that all profits would be donated towards a new multipurpose building at White Park.

The Concord Parks and Recreation Department handled the registration of the Dragon Boat Festival, bands for the two days, food vendors and set up. In addition, the social media elements were handled by the City.

The Black Ice Pond Hockey Association was responsible for organizing the 1st Annual Craft Beer Festival featuring over twenty different brewers.

The Concord Rotary Club managed the Rubber Duck Race and the first ever Super Duck Boat tours in Concord. The Club partnered with 23 different non-profits to help sell almost 7,000 duck tickets, thereby helping the non-profits to raise over $13,000, which will be invested back into the Concord community.

Brian’s One to One Fitness planned and implemented the Urban Maddog Fitness Challenge, the first of its kind to be hosted in Concord, which featured a 5K road race with multiple obstacles along the route.

Concord Crew held a five team regatta, and helped with volunteers for the weekend.

While many folks were involved in this great success, I need to say special thanks to City Parks and Recreation Director David Gill for his leadership and vision. David’s staff also played a large role in making the weekend happen and I am certain the community is already looking forward to next year’s event.
