NH Now: John and Karen Kasich Discuss Politics and Family Life

Chris Ryan climbed on board the Kasich Campaign Bus to chat with John and Karen Kasich about the family commitment which is required for a run for the presidency. The Ohio governor feels that being a family man helps to give him focus and perspective. As you might expect, Karen Kasich is all about supporting her husband whom she describes as experienced, compassionate, passionate, and full of faith. The Kasichs have twin fifteen year old daughters, Emma and Reese, who have joined their parents on the campaign trail. Governor Kasich believes that his run for the White House is only possible with the support of his family. As the First Lady of Ohio, Karen Kasich has supported a variety of programs: increasing after school activities for at-risk youth; combatting human trafficking; and improved health and fitness.

Despite repeated attempts to get him to discuss comments by Governor Chris Christie or Donald Trump, John Kasich prefers to be the experienced grown up in the race. When he was asked about Christie’s claim to have the most foreign policy and national security experience of all the Republican candidates, Kasich described the experience and knowledge which he gained by serving for eighteen years on the House Armed Services Committee. When he was asked to comment on Donald Trump’s recent praise of Vladimir Putin, Governor Kasich said that he preferred to discuss the problems facing the American people and possible solutions to those problems.

The question which remains is whether the voters will continue to yearn for an outsider or will they turn to a person with Kasich’s record as a legislator and as a governor.
