Thirty years since Challenger tragedy

It was thirty years ago this Thursday– Jan. 28, 1986 that New Hampshire’s Christa McAuliffe became the first teacher in space, and tragically died in the space shuttle Challenger explosion.
Some people want to officially honor the former Concord High School social studies teacher and her six fallen astronaut crewmates.
So, a committee, led by former Concord High student Joanne Walton, is looking for 100,000 signatures needed by the end of the month so that President Obama can consider making it a national holiday.
Unfortunately, the Concord Monitor reports there are currently just 47 names on the McAuliffe list, but that’s because it’s not publicly searchable until it gets to 150 signatures. Well, now you know.
